ENHANCED REAL-TIME MARITIME DOMAIN AWARNESS

Maritime Domain Awareness means having true and timely information about everything on, under, related to, adjacent to, or bordering a sea, ocean, or other navigable waterway. For marine port & harbor security, it means being aware of anything in the marine domain that could threaten security of the Port/Harbors Area of Responsibility. The Sentinel VTS & VTMIS systems layer surveillance, observation, and navigation systems into one common operating picture which allows operators to have enhanced real-time maritime domain awareness and make informed decisions.

 

 

LAYERED FUSION OF SENSORS

The TITAN Sentinel system has the ability to integrate with a number of sensors including, but not limited to, radar, terrestrial and space-based AIS, camera, sonar, RDF, voice, and weather. The sensors are layered onto a single display that allows the sensors to interact with each other. For example, a client can simply click on a AIS/Radar target and the camera will swing to and lock onto that target. The camera will then track the target.

 

 

MODULAR SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE FOR FUTURE GROWTH

The TITAN Sentinel system is designed with an architecture that allows the users to grow the system as their requirements change. Many clients start with a basic system and advance to one which integrates multiple cameras, radars an AIS network, weather stations, and more. The core of the system does not change; Modules are added and integrated if and when the user requires them.

ANOMALY AND THREAT DETECTION

Monitoring an entire coastline can be an intimidating and sometimes overwhelming task. The coastal environment is dynamic and in a constant state of change. Operators must be able to quickly sift through data and discriminate between normal activities and potential threats.

 

The TITAN Coastal system integrates industry leading surveillance sensors and applies a number of rule-based analytics and automatic alarms to detect anomalies and/or potential threats. Thus, the TITAN Coastal system allows operators to monitor large areas in an efficient and accurate process.

 

 

DISPLAY OVER 30,000 TARGETS IN REAL TIME

The TITAN Coastal System was recently tested with over 30,000 targets being tracked and was able to function at a normal rate. The ability for an operator to be able to track all targets within the area of responsibility allows them to achieve a high level of situational awareness. TITAN Coastal was designed to handle large amounts of track data and continue operating at an efficient level.

 

 

ADVANCED FEATURES FOR COASTAL SENSORS

The primary tasks of TITAN Coastal are to aid in the control of maritime activities, security of human life at sea, safety of navigation, neutralization of illegal activities, Search and Rescue (SAR), and to support environmental stewardship.

 

In order to achieve these tasks the TITAN Coastal System has over 50 features which take the data feed from each of the sensors installed along the coastline and presents the data in an efficient manner. As an example, the user may set-up a geo-fence which is automatically engaged when a vessel enters it. The alarm is then sounded and the vessel details are stored on the database. The nearest camera will also lock-onto the target and, if necessary, place the target in a separate window for continued monitoring.

 

 

SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE

The TITAN Coastal System’s architecture allows multiple users to receive the data from a single sensor. The system architecture also allows regional coastal surveillance centers to share data with national centers. The sensor data is primarily controlled by the regional offices but the national coastal surveillance centers can take control when necessary.

Xanatos Marine's Vessel Traffic Monitoring System (TITAN AVIPS) was developed for the marine Industry with direct input from the marine Industry. In fact, there were over 25 individuals involved with the development process including harbor masters, port operation staff, VTS/VTMS system operators, and other port authority personnel.  As a result of the varying requirements and input from the Marine Industry the TITAN AVIPS VTMS solution is a comprehensive, user-friendly system that has over 50 features to enhance the safety and efficiency of maritime traffic, improve incident/accident response and increase enviromental stewardship.

 

"TURN-KEY" SOLUTION

The TITAN AVIPS VTMS is a "turn-key" system that comes with a pre-tested and fully integrated solid-state Radar, AIS station, Camera, Professional Charts and Workstation. The TITAN AVIPS system sensors are fully integrated so that they are able to interact with each other providing advanced capabilities such as auto-tracking and auto-visual acquisition of Radar/AIS targets.  The TITAN AVIPS system was designed to have a user-friendly interface. The user interface is the front end of the overall VTMS system and is used for data display & data evaluation which are required  for making informed decisions.

 

 

A COST-EFFECTIVE SOLUTION

During the consultations with the marine industry one the common requests was to provide a cost-effective solution that allows Ports of all levels to have access to enhanced safety, security and enviromental stewardship. The TITAN AVIPS VTMS is our response. For under $50,000 Port and Harbor Authorities are now able to implement a reliable, feature-rich, VTMS that include AIS, Radar, Camera, VTMS software, Professional Charts and a workstation. The AVIPS solution is based on the successful TITAN Sentinel VTS System which has been installed and is currently operatonal in some of the worlds largest Ports.

The TITAN AVIPS system is in a constant state of evolution. In order to provide users with up to date features, Xanatos Marine offers unlimited AVIPS updates with the service level agreement (SLA). 

 

 

WEB-BASED TRAINING SESSIONS

Having a robust VTMS like TITAN AVIPS provides a great tool for enhancing a Ports situational awareness however, the system is only as good as the people who operate it. This is why Xanatos Marine hosts web-based training sessions which are open to all TITAN AVIPS clients. AIS NETWORK BACKBONE

The TITAN Gateway system is a robust AIS data collection and distribution system that is a core for AIS networks. The TITAN Gateway system can data handle 100+ AIS receiving stations and distribute the AIS data to 1,000+ users. The TITAN Gateways system has been in operation since 2004 and is the core of AIS networks globally.

 

 

DATA STORAGE

The TITAN Gateway system is able to store AIS data for 5+ years. The system is modular in design which allows administrators to add additional AIS stations to the system easily. The TITAN Gateway system also has a redundant architecture so you can be assured your data is being stored reliably.

 

 

PROCESSING INFORMATION FROM OVER 40,000 AIS TARGETS

The TITAN Gateway system is able to handle data from over 40,000 AIS targets and continue operating at high-level. With the new stricter AIS carriage requirements and an increased number of class “B” transponders on the waters, it is now more important than ever to have a robust system to collect, validate, and process AIS targets.

 

 

USER DEFINED AIS DATA DISTRIBUTION

The core of any AIS network allows administrators to collect AIS data, process it, and distribute it to users/clients. The TITAN Gateway system takes this task to the next level and allows administrators to select what AIS data each user is receiving. Some users only require a vessels name, MMSI, and position while others need full AIS details about each target. The TITAN Gateway system allows administrators to easily establish who gets what information in a few easy steps.

The primary focus of the TITAN Sentinel-IW VTMIS is to enhance the maritime safety and efficiency of navigation on rivers and inland waterways. Additionally, the TITAN Sentinel-IW VTMIS plays an important role in providing a reliable layer of security.

ADVANCEMENTS IN ATON TECHNOLOGY

World commerce has been supported by the movement of goods by sea for hundreds of years, giving rise to the requirement for vessels to navigate safely and efficiently. Aids to Navigation were initially provided in the form of shore-side beacons and lights. Then came the introduction of various types of buoys. There have been many advancements of aids to navigation over the years, including the introduction of the TITAN I-ATONIS system.

 

The TITAN I-ATONIS (Integrated Aid to Navigation Information System) was developed to increase the awareness of those responsible for AtoN’s. Since the initial development of the TITAN I-ATONIS system in 2007, it has helped authorities reduce maintenance costs, increase safety, and provide a level of efficiency that was not previously available.

 

 

REPLAY VESSEL TRACKS FOLLOWING ATON COLLISION

There have been countless incidents where a vessel strikes an AtoN and knocks it off position and/or damages an AtoN. The TITAN I-ATONIS system is able to integrated with AIS and Radar targets and can be set-up to replay the track of the vessel in question.

 

 

DISPLAYS THE METEORLOGICAL AND OCEANOGRAPHIC DATA

Knowing the real-time weather conditions in a port or along a coastline is essential for enhancing safe navigation. Aside from providing information about the positing or health of AtoN’s, TITAN I-ATONIS displays the meteorological and oceanographic data from buoys equipped with these sensors. Depending on the configuration of the telemetry the data can be presented in real-time or near-real time. The data is presented in a user-friendly gauge or text format.

 

 

DISPLAY REAL-TIME HEALTH OF NAVIGATIONAL AIDS

The TITAN I-ATONIS System is able to display the real-time health of AtoN’s. This data includes, but is not limited to the light status, lamp count, battery voltage, LED Intensity, AtoN History Database, and more. The data from the AtoN is presented in a user-friendly display. The TITAN I-ATONIS system also allows user to define what levels are acceptable with automated alarms if the levels go beyond their acceptable level.

For Offshore Platforms, it means being aware of anything in the marine domain that could threaten security and or safety of the offshore structure. The Offshore Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) layers platform rated surveillance sensor into a common operating picture which allows operators to have enhanced real-time maritime domain awareness and make informed decisions. The data from the sensor can be viewed from the platform or from a responsible authority on land.

 

 

3D LAYER FOR TITAN OFFSHORE VESSEL MONITORING SYSTEM

The TITAN Offshore VMS is now available with a 3D Layer which allows the operator to have an additional view/layer for vessel traffic surrounding the platform. With the 3D layer, the architecture and pipelines can be accurately modeled.

DISPLAY THE DATA FROM THE VTS/VTMIS SENSORS

When responding to an emergency or security threat it is important for the vessels operators to know what they are heading into. The TITAN Voyager system allows operators to connect to TITAN VTS/VTMIS system and the sensors integrated into it. The vessels operators can either view the data from the VTS/VTMIS with a passive display or as they can control the sensors.

 

 

REAL-TIME WIND, CURRENT, TIDE DISPLAY

The TITAN Voyager system allows real-time meteorological and oceanographic data such as wind, tide, current, humidity, temp. and more to be displayed in an easy-to-view format. This provides the bridge team with valuable information for navigating and/or berthing vessels.

 

 

SURROUNDING VESSEL VISUALIZATION

The TITAN Voyager system provides the mariner with comprehensive visualization on other vessels within proximity of their own ship. It allows the mariner to quickly and easily query other vessels to determine their course, speed, heading along with other vital data, which will help in decision making.

TITAN Voyager unlocks a wealth of navigational data from AIS as well as Radar and effectively sorts the data and presents it in a user-friendly format. Xanatos Marine consulting services focus on helping organizations move from a concept or idea to a fully-integrated solution. This is accomplished by utilizing our global maritime experience, collaborative processes, and product knowledge. Xanatos Marine consulting services works in two principal ways. We help our clients develop a plan for their MDA project implementation or we provide full oversight and management for the implementation.

 

 

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION PLAN APPROACH

In the first case, Xanatos Marine’s consulting group meets with the client to design a project implementation plan that is specific to the project circumstances and client goals. This typically requires a detailed needs analysis, gap analysis, and consultation with all project stakeholders.

 

 

PROJECT OVERSIGHT AND MANAGEMENT

In the second case, Xanatos Marine’s consulting group will meet with the client, stakeholders, and potential suppliers to help the client understand the requirements, process, available options, and expected budget required to fulfil the scope.
